Default Red cap radiator drain plug

Hello Everyone

I have a '13 Ford F150 Ecoboost FX4, and planning to change the Thermostat and perform a coolant flush. Upon inspection under the truck, I noticed the rad drain spout has a red cap style plug on it. Looks like it could be a hard plastic cap with ridges around it for gripping. I am willing to turn hard and pull it off, but concerned it may break off or crack. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks

Ok awesome thanks. Did the red plug take a bit of pressure to turn off the first time? Did you attach a hose to the drain?

yea it was difficult at first but i took a small pair of channel locks and used it to twist it off. No i just let it drain but you can put a small hose on it if you want.

I forgot to ask about the coolant flush. Did you change the Thermostat at the same time or remove it for the flush? How did you flush the cooling system?
