Really strange clicking noise when unlocking truck..
my son in law has a 2014 XLT crew 4wd.
When he unlocks the door and opens the door, there is a loud clicking noise coming from under the dash. This is with the truck NOT running.
We isolated the noise to this component located on the drivers side just behind the lower dash near the manual climate control is.
What is this?

If I had to hazard a guess, you have a blend door that has a stripped gear in it. How do the climate controls work? Does it change vents and/or temperature change correctly?

Why would a blend door activate by just unlocking and opening the door??? The clicking is heard with the engine OFF and key out of the ignition.
One thing we did noticed: if he disables the max A/C (recalculation) it stopped clicking.
If this is a blend door problem,
What do you call this particular actuator??

Because Ford starts up everything anticipating you firing up the engine. Sounds like the recirc door, but you should do more tests. IIRC, that's the one that's a bitch to get to. There's also an issue with a part of the door itself breaking off and bouncing around in the blower. Hope you're not having this crap.
