Real-World mpgs...
Just got back from a 4 week/4400 mi road trip through the Southwest, and I can honestly say that I am really pleased with the truck! Everything about it just performed in a stellar manner.
The driving we did was some strafing highways through Nevada, 4-wheeling up some washes and draws in Utah. We even drove for about 40 miles on BIA lands to get to a little-known ancient cliff dwelling. Now, considering all the 'off-roading'/dirt roading we did, all the in-town driving we did, and the motorhome passing we did (sometimes at 9,000ft and 10,000ft + elevations !), [thank you turbos!!!] and we averaged 18.8 mpg over all!
(((-Did I mention how much fun it was, being able to pass almost anything on uphill grades? SUVs, even many cars, anything. Loved the looks I got as we wisked by, and you could tell they wanted "more"... more power to keep up. What fun!)))
That's really great, considering my '06 Ranger FX4 got 19.0 mpg *AT BEST* on the freeway only!!! Yes, I am pleased!
On the way home we took I/505 (outside of Sacramento). This is a 30 mile, nearly straight as an arrow, relatively level stretch of highway with virtually no traffic to mention. We did have about a 10-15mph breeze coming from the 2-O'clock direction, so it didn't have a LOT of affect on us. So I did a 4-5 mile test on several speeds while on cruise control.
I know different specs make some differences, so here's my set up"
-275/70R18 Load Range E tires (about 2% slow on the speedo) @ 45 psi
-Bilsteins @ 1.5 front lift
-SnugTop truck cap
-Otherwise all stock on the outside
-running 87 octane (Chevron)
-LMK if there's anything I'm missing
Here's my results:
Speed MPGs (indicated)
70...... 19
65...... 20
60...... 22.3
55...... 25.5
So, the right foot definitely has an affect on fuel consumption (but I *hate* driving 55!!! )
LMK what you think. Are my figures any where near what others have observed?

Excellent post. Thanks for the info.
I get about 16-17-18-19 in mine mostly 50/50 highway/city. I do not have a heavy foot in general but, and you know what's coming..... Since I got my EB my foot has a mind of it's own. Absolutely love to drive this truck. I find myself holding back quite a bit but just knowing I can really go when I want to or need to just adds to the experience for me. But if I determine it's safe I do let her have her head!
I know 505 quite well. One of the nicest stretches of highway around these parts to drive. Sort of Autobahn-(ish). I try to take it whenever I get up there.
I can relate to your feelings of joy with your truck. It's hard to beat that's for sure.
Thanks for the great post and I hope you continue to enjoy your truck for many more happy miles.

Hey, I hear ya on the $120 fill ups! But, the good side is, that the truck goes a l-o-n-g way... Think about 18mpgs x 36 gallons = 648mi.
Imagine getting 25mpgs (x 36 = 900mi !!!). But someone would have to wake me up after 900 miles @ 55mph, like if I lived in Oregon...

My dash is pretty much always reading 14.8 after fuel fill up resets and I haven't gotten my truck re calibrated for my larger tires. I am told i should add at least 1 mpg so I figure 15.8? I am 90 percent city. Specs are in sig. On the highway I do 70 and get MAYBE .5 mpg better.

hey stingray...i have a '12 lariet ecoboost crew cab and 5.5 foot box and average 18 plus in the city...as always drive with my head not the right foot. did a trip out to cape cod a couple weeks ago and the best i could do on the highway was 21mph but when we got to the cape and topped off the tank i was getting 22-23 mph driving around town!
