Recon looks good on black trucks but the clear lens one might look better on other colors.

Saw a Raptor the other day with Halos and these brake/taillights. Though it looked hideous.

The issue is that the OEM light harness ends in typical bulb sockets and there are no quick disconnects. Since the Recon light uses permanently sealed LED arrays integrated into it's housing and the way the OEM harness is wired in sequence, there is no other way to install the Recon light.

You can either cut off the bulb sockets or use a snap-on mid-wire connectors and zip-tie the loose sockets neatly to keep them from bouncing around yet allowing you to quickly and easily return to stock if the need arises (this is what I did).

Regarding the seal, the Recons have a permanently affixed gasket that so far has sealed against the cab waterproof.

Thanks for the info Augster. Will be ordering mine this weekend.

I had the "leaking OEM third brake light" syndrome on our '11 F150 XLT Supercab, dealer replaced it with "the fix" that has the beefier gasket. I like the look, I'd just want to be sure it wouldn't leak. You can't really see the size of the gasket in the pics. I don't expect that poster to pull it off but anybode else that gets one, try to do a close-up from a couple of angles showing the gasket.

If you're worried about the gasket put some 50 year silicone on it, it will never leak.

I agree I think it would look much better. But I am still undecided on if I want to do that right now. I also want to paint the edges and reflectors on the headlights someday.
