Just a suggestion, the screws that hold em in, paint them black so they blend in more!

I did them and it looks MUCH BETTER!

Actually, I just did mine today! I was intending to do it during installation, but decided I didn't want to have my truck down waiting for the paint to dry!

Thanks, that's the only thing I didn't like about the brake light were the screws not being black. One of these weekends I'll have to paint them.

Did the recon 3rd brake lights just plug right in without having to do any wiring? Did any of you guys have to reseal the light after install to prevent water from leaking in? Have been looking into getting this for sometime now.

The Recons come with unfinished wire ends so you will have to splice them into the factory harness.

The issue is that the OEM light harness ends in typical bulb sockets and there are no quick disconnects. Since the Recon light uses permanently sealed LED arrays integrated into it's housing and the way the OEM harness is wired in sequence, there is no other way to install the Recon light.

You can either cut off the bulb sockets or use a snap-on mid-wire connectors and zip-tie the loose sockets neatly to keep them from bouncing around yet allowing you to quickly and easily return to stock if the need arises (this is what I did).

Regarding the seal, the Recons have a permanently affixed gasket that so far has sealed against the cab waterproof.

I don't know if it's just my eyes playing tricks on me, camera angles and/or lighting but it appears that the lens is actually clear and not tinted but over a smoked LED array, unlike the Recon which the lens is fully tinted through and through.

Something to be aware of, however, I think the eBay one will actualy look better on a gray truck like yours.

I haven't been to 29 Stumps since about 97 and still have that sandy dust in cracks that will not be mentioned. I hated CAX and that god forsaken place. Semper Fi Augster.
