On my '13 STX, if I select Defrost, it disables recirc entirely. If I select the Defrost and Floor setting, the recirc setting works, but it turns off the recirc after a period of time (usually when I'm nearing a sewer plant or roadkill skunk).

On all other settings, the recirc stays where I set it 'til I kill the ignition. It seems like the recirc setting will survive a power cycle if it's automatically engaged when the AC is engaged, but it has been quite some time since I've paid attention to that, so I could be mistaken.

Well, that's why most cars have an automatic shut off. You drive by something you don't want to smell, hit recirc, and then you get past that and it flips back to normal. I don't know about overriding it, it's never bothered me. Not in previous vehicles, either.

We do have a 99 Avalon which has a purely physical switch so it stays on recirc if you want, but that's the only vehicle I've had that does.

Darren, I don't think so. I think the doors open. You will have to check physically, I suppose.
