I was in the exact same boat. I went with the fx4 mainly be of the raptor having a 5.5 bed. Now I'm not saying a raptor should have the 6.5 bed because of capability issues but I needed the 6.5 bed. The fx4 with the 6.2 3.73 that I ended up getting crew cab 157" with 35 inch tires is probably the same gas mileage as the raptor. But I added max tow which would probably work for a landscaping buisness. I have seen as Hugh as 17.4 hwy. and as low as 9.3 city. There both awesome trucks, but living on Long Island nowhere near trails or anything I would have felt silly driving a raptor atreet queen. It's your decision can't go wrong either way

..no, they had problems with guys doing 100mph and hitting 3ft high kickers. Still, to combat that Ford reenforced the frames in that area on the 2013 Raptors.

If you want more information on the Raptor I suggest shooting over to Ford Raptor Forums.

I'm still breaking mine in, but I avg. around 13.4 mpg in my daily driving and get around 16-17mpg on hwy trips.

EVERY truck will have 'problems' with bending frames if they're jumped.
NO stock vehicle is made to launch over jumps.
If you're referring to the video that's been posted and re-posted on here over and over again, a Trophy truck wouldn't have survived that stupidity un-scathed.
If you wanna jump things, buy a KX450.

for 2013 you can get an FX4 with a 6.2L and 4:10 gears. My 2012 FX4 has Ecoboost and 3:73's and it goes great with my 35" tires. Up to you man. I'd get the FX4 with either the 6.2L or the ecoboost and max tow.

I have a 13 fx4 pretty much optioned the way you described. I love it. But if I had the extra coin I would have the raptor.

I have a 2012 FX4 ecoboost and love it. If money were no object, i didnt care about fuel economy, cost of the vehicle didnt matter and I didnt have a need to tow a heavy load then I might think Raptor. The realty is it is pretty much overkill for most of us but you only get one go around. If you have to have one, go for it. If you really need that tow vehicle, or any of the other considerations come into play then a well optioned FX4 isnt too painful to live with imho.

!6-17 mpg's is pretty good for a Raptor. Heck, there are people complaining that they don't get that with the EB.

Now i know the raptor is not meant for this but does anyone have any videos of a raptor rock crawling or off road but over steep grades ? Same for the fx4 ? I do more along the lines of that vs high speed off roading. I would probably run 33s or 35s on the fx4 with a two inch leveling kit so would this be about the same height as the raptor ?
