What brand seems to be the best quality? AVS, Weathertech, EGR, etc? I think I'd like to try out the in-channel.

If you want In-Channel I'd probably go weathertech. But my vote is the AVS seamless. Don't have to worry about the "auto-up" thing on the windows, and they look awesome.

I'm happy with the AVS Seamless. Several people have noticed them and want them for their own trucks. I get a VERY slight increase in wind noise at highway speeds, but I installed the AVS hood deflector at the same time so I'm not sure which one caused it. I can only hear it faintly if I turn off the radio and fan.
I had in channels on another truck and hated them. As the window went up or down, the scraping plastic noises made me cringe. Also, search here for the problems they cause with the window function on these trucks.

It is a bit of a compromise, yes. You can't open the windows quite as much. But having each of the 4 windows cracked 3/4 inch or so instead of a bit more with other types has been plenty for me.
It IS a bit frustrating though, trying to only crack the windows, because the stupid auto function of the switch is so sensitive. However that issue will be had with any type of visors.
