I am putting an email together for my dealer of the problems I need taken care of, and this exact problem is one of them.

IE,
I drove 3 hours back from family visit, parked truck, locked, left over night.
Next day start up, drive to hardware store 10minutes away, park, truck off, "battery saver start engine or turn ignition off" appears before removing key, or opening door.
Think nothing of it, "glitch in the system", come back outside, drive home, same message appears at home.
Using Torque Pro, no voltage is being sent at all... obviously that's not right, but having seen the regular 12.5-13.8v displayed in the past, something is wrong.

This has happened a few times since receiving truck in Feb'13. Once even while driving we received a similar message about "low voltage/battery ??" we didn't think of writing it down sadly.
Read what I said though: I stated IF it's happening after just a couple of minutes than yes, it's a problem. Get it to the dealer first if it's under warranty and let them look at it.

Sounds like something seriously fishy with the charging system...bad alternator or bad ground perhaps?

I have been getting same thing. Bought new August 30. This warning/message started happening 3 days ago, as soon as I shut off truck. Truck has 5500Kms on it. I thought my truck was going into "winter" mode...

Truck starts fine, but still thinking charging system is the culprit.

well they put the 3rd battery in mine the other day, got home and the mft system wouldnt shut off even if I locked the truck. Also the drivers door won't trip a 'door ajar' light and my ignition switch in the OFF position makes the entire dash lighting flicker and I have no door open dinger bell. They replaced the door switch to no avail and ordered a new ignition switch.

They were supposed to replace it today but they didn't call me to tell me it was fixed.

Starting to get warm about this as it's been in 4 times for this battery save state issue and now it's involving other things. They say it has nothing to do with the new battery swap, but it was that way when I picked it up after hours and drove home.

I'm starting to lose days of use of this truck that has been flawless until this. 5000 miles and bought in 2/13.

You get your truck back yet? Any resolution for this issue?

Just used my truck to go to a local coffee shop. Temperature here this morning is little warmer than past few days. Approx 5C or 41-41F. I didn't get the battery saver screen pop up after I shut my truck off. I am thinking its just a weak battery as has been suggested here. So when temp goes down, battery voltage is a bit lower, thus causing the truck to go into saver mode... just a thought. But I hope its just the battery

Picked it up last night. I had disconnected the powersteps before dropping it off so they COULDN"T blame them. Makes sense, right?

Well, powersteps are wired into a few wires over by the passenger foot kickpanel. Door/dome light trigger wires so if the steps control box sees a voltage on the wire it energizes the step motor for the proper side. AMP did send me a new control bopx a ways back.

APPARENTLY the ignition switch causing dash light flickering/no dome light/no door ajar warning, MFT screen staying on was caused by the powersteps being wired in but no power to them.

BS you say? They reconnected the positive lead to the battery which is the power source for the steps - EVERY SINGLE problem went away. Now the battery save state probably hasn't but what appeared to be a total electronics meltdown did.

In the troubleshooting they put in a new ignition switch, door ajar switch and outside door handle. Didn't charge me.

I'm going to temporarily unclip the powersteps wires from the truck tap-ins and pull the power to them again and see if the problem shows once more.

I did call AMP RESEARCH and was told in no uncertain terms what I was telling them COULD NOT HAPPEN as their wires only look for ground. I told them I saw it with my own eyes. No resolution there. Thanks AMP.

As far as the battery save, there are a number of us now, so it's probably a matter of time until a service message or TSB shows up (I hope).

COMPLAIN TO YOUR DEALER.

If you left something on or were working on your truck detailing it or whatever and kept opening the doors in and out it could have drawn down the battery enough for the monitor to kick the code.
I drove mine over 100 miles non-stop one day, and got the battery save message at shutdown. Multimeter did read over 12.6v. Not sure about amps of course.

My wife drove the truck on a 100km (60 mile) ride today. She told me the nag battery saver screen did not happen. But as I said in an earlier post, its a bit warmer here today.

I think its just a matter of time before it constantly happens.

I am going to contact my dealer Monday morning. I will let you all know what they told me..... Until then.....................

Wish mine would have done that. It just let my battery die instead.

So I dropped my truck off, and picked it up, yesterday.

Turns out Ford has issued a service announcement regarding a wire/plug... from my receipt;

"replace generator pigtail as per SSM 12055"

As was explained to me, that pigtail/plug can "jiggle" loose, or unplug completely. They knew what I was talking about before I dropped it off, ran their test (tug plug, if just loose, re-seat and check again, if it comes off replace harness)
They replaced mine either way, and say it should resolve the issue.

This was a random problem for us anyway, but I will keep an eye out for it and report back if any problems arise.

Hope you can have your dealer look into this, and make it work for you.
