I've been following this thread since I got my 2011 used in 2013. I seems this issue is with the 2011 - 2014 series. Have not heard of this with 2015 or later. That doesn't mean it was corrected but I just haven't heard of any issues. My next truck will be later then 2015. Unless I find the magic bullet that will fix the one I have. Then I will keep it.

Hi 2013 F150, I'm in the same boat as you, no other GEN-12 F150 owners I know have this issue. Thanks for posting the info you received from FORD. I did notice that this information went to great lengths explaining the "battery protection" provided by BMS. However it did not touch on the battery charging limitations that BMS places on the alternator as supposed fuel savings.
My FORD dealer informs me that I'm not driving the truck enough, and I should be driving for an hour every couple of days. Some real fuel savings there, driving around just to charge the battery.
Finally, a real nice FORSCAN win would be to find how to eliminate the restriction on the alternator, and allow full charging while driving.

Default 2013 f150

i had the issue for the first 2 years I owned my truck. I think the dealer replaced a total of 5 batteries. Eventually there was a TSB found (don't remember what it was, but I did post it way back in the thread) and I haven't had the issue since.

I've been doing this and it hasn't worked for me.

I still think the problem is that the battery isn't being charged properly. An hours driving should more then be enough time to fully charge the battery. Especially when driving during the day with only the radio on.

My alternator seems to being alright, I purchased a voltmeter that plugs into the cigarette lighter and the charge is constantly between 14.1 and 14.3 volts yet I have the warning light problems from time to time.

I don't know if I've ever heard a larger line of absolute bull feces in my life.

No dealer would have told anyone this in 1953, or 1963, or 1994.

Bhayward I think I remember your post. I believe the dealer lowered the threshold that the warning comes on at.

Is the 14 volts while driving? I'm sure it is. But what does it read after sitting over night before you start the engine. In fact, what does it read when you shut of the engine after driving awhile.

it was some sort of bms update. I'm sure the tech said widening the parameters was part of it. Maybe it also changed how/when the alternator cuts out.

Regardless, I haven't had the issue since

I hate to butt in but.... my voltmeter reads 14.1 to 14.3 while idling and driving. If I shut off the engine after a long trip it will read 12.3 when I shut the engine off, less after a lot of stopping and starting. Can't leave it plugged in for a week or it will drain the battery. Most of the computers do not shut off when you park your vehicle for some time and once you open the door the voltmeter will be down to 12.2 +/-. The only way to get the correct voltage is to have wires hooked up to the battery and check the voltage with the door locked. I had installed a battery shut off switch but that did nothing to alleviate the problem either.
