Spoke to my dealer this morning (new service mgr) tells me my 3 batteries could just have been a faulty battery. And Ford tells him they never heard of this problem. I call BS. How can the batteries all be that bad and how do they go from OK to completely dead overnight. Is the Ford Canada rep still monitoring these forums. I have lost complete respect for my dealer. I want them to open a case and push this issue. Anyone know how I reach them short of calling the 1800 number.
thx

And why haven't we seen this problem in the 2015-16 models? Could it be they really found and fixed the problem. But won't admit it because they would have to recall all the 2011-14 models.

See what they did to my truck before realising back to the public. Last I know it was being hauled off to Michigan to be examined by the main engineers and no one seems to have a clue what happened after that. That was 2 years ago this month

I see no point in re-programming the cut off point. Although I find the "battery saver" message annoying I'm more concerned with the battery not being fully charged. I seem to have an additional problem no one else has commented on. When my battery goes dead and I charge it back to where I can start the truck my transmission is locked in 3rd gear. It won't shift up or down. I have to have the computer re-flashed. I've had to do this twice. To those who disconnect your batteries. When you reconnect, does your trans work properly? Because my 2011 doesn't. I'm lucky in that I live only 10 minutes from a good transmission shop who re-programs my computer for free.
BTW, today I took a 3 1/2 hour trip. After a solid hour of driving, stopped for coffee. The battery saver message came on. So after that long the battery should have been charged past the cut off point. Had only the radio on. No lights or fans or anything. Completed the trip and then the radio played after another 2 1/2 hours of driving.

I had problems for about 16 months when I drove 12 miles one way once a week. When that stopped I would get a message from time to time. A trip downtown with five stops could cause it, especially since I have to do a couple of hard turns while parking in my tight property.... my transmission will now shift manually while in Drive.

I had mine reprogrammed and a new battery installed and voltage learned in.
almost 3 months no battery saver message.
Mine seems all ok.
No noticeable voltage draw when not being used.( read the voltage each day for 2 weeks to be sure)
all good..Knock on wood!

Guys - you know when you charge your battery, you are NOT supposed to connect the negative clip directly to the battery, right? Also any accessories added should not connect to the negative side of the battery. Reason is the charge monitor:
"NOTE: To maintain correct operation of the load shed system, any electrical devices or equipment must be grounded to the engine or chassis ground and not the negative battery terminal. A connection to the negative battery terminal may cause an inaccurate measurement of the battery state of charge and may cause incorrect load shed system operation.
When charging the vehicle battery by connecting the charger to the negative battery terminal is necessary , such as when using a combination battery charger and battery tester/analyzer, like the GR 1 190 V3.0 Intelligent Diagnostic Charger, the BCM will not immediately update the battery state of charge. In this instance, after charging, you must carry out the Battery Monitoring System (BMS) Reset using the scan tool. This reset is needed for proper engine off load shedding and to prevent invoking of engine off load shedding earlier than normal.
NOTE: If the reset is not carried out, when the battery is charged by connecting the charger to the negative battery terminal, it takes approximately 8 hours for the BCM to learn the new battery state of charge. During this 8 hour period, the vehicle must be undisturbed, with no doors opened or keyless entry button presses. If the vehicle is used before the BCM is allowed to learn the new battery state of charge, engine off load shedding can still occur and a message may be displayed.
When charging the vehicle battery by connecting the charger to engine or chassis ground , the negative charger clamp must be connected to an unpainted chassis surface or a solid engine component such as a generator mount or engine lifting eye. In this instance, after charging, the BMS Reset is not required . Through this method of charging the BCM will update the battery state of charge during the charging process. "

I actually was at that dealership about a month ago and they said once it's bought back they (Ford) don't tell them anything about it. They just "fix it" and auction it off as a RAV (Re-acquired vehicle). So that's a real nice way to keep it to themselves and keep the dealerships scratching their heads! I guess at least some of us got out money back I guess! Haha
