Hi folks I've got an 09 F150 king ranch with the sony premium sound system and its an occasional driver. A couple of weeks ago I started it up and the splash screen started then restarted several times, it never powered up for more then a minute. Long story short its dead and I was wondering if I could use an ACM from another vehicle lincoln or ford (same year and ACM model number but different ford part number) and use forscan to program it. I can get the exact part number ACM again can I use forscan to program it and eliminate the dealer. Thanks for any input.

 

You should be able to if you can access your ACM via forscan and the only difference is the codes and nothing else.
I don't know what is accessible for a 2009 via forscan so can't say for sure.

 

Just to let anyone that's interested know I got an ACM from ebay that was out of an 09 Lincoln. Same model number ACM Different part number, plugged it in to the truck everything seemed to work (nav, sync, radio, Sirius), but I had no audio. I was receiving because see the audio graph bar on the bottom of the display was changing. I then pulled the hard drive out of my old unit and put it into the the new unit and I got audio, but I also had an error message on the screen and could not switch out sirius and no nav. So out of frustration swapped hard drives again and everything worked all radio functions and nav, only difference is instead of sony splash page when I start the truck I get thx and no ford symbol but lincoln. Not real sure what happened, but I'll take it, I'd like to know more about what the hard drive does for the unit, but that information seems to be limited.
