Race fuel OK for 2011 5.0?
I accidentally posted this same topic in the "general F-150 discussion" area, please delete that post if possible. Thanks!
Hello everyone. I am new here and this is my first post! I just bought a 2011 Screw XLT 2wd 5.0. I have managed to rack up about 200 miles on it so far. My question is this... I have about 3 gallons of 100 octane race fuel that I originally bought for my quad. However, due to some mechanical issues on it, the fuel is just sitting. I don't want it to go bad, so I would like to add it to the fuel in my truck. I have a 26 gallon tank in the truck that is half full so it has about 13 gallons of 87 octane in it. Would it be OK to add the race fuel to the gas i have in the tank? I definitely don't want to hurt the truck any, and if it means i waste 30 dollars in race fuel then so be it! Thanks!
Chris
Edit: I am most concerned for the emissions equipment on the truck. The race fuel is not leaded.

If you mix it in like a octane booster. Like 12oz to full tank it should be fine. But just get some stabilizer and put in race fuel.... I have some 113 for my race bike. I store it a year at a time with stabilizer.in it.

It's fine. You're truck has the ability to advance timing until the point in which it senses pre-det. So, the higher the octane level in the truck, the further the truck advances timing. It does this constantly, so adding the 100octane fuel to the tank won't hurt the truck at all.
Plus, 3 gallons in a 26 gallon tank won't make much of a difference.

Grade school math. 13x87=1131. +. 100x3= 300. Total = 1431 \16=89-90 octane. Result is u r fine.

Dump it in itwont hurt a thing 3gals ina nearly full tank would have a very minamal efect on octaine just be shure to use the funnel that came with your truck so as not to mess up the capless fuel system
