Default Quick Powered Subwoofer Install Question

It's been a LONG time since I've installed a powered sub. Can you still just tap off the battery and run the power through the firewall and under the carpet/door sill to the back? Or is there a better way?

That's the way it was recommended to me. Firewall grommet on passenger side and follow the factory harness under the door sills to the back. Bring a ground wire too.
Good luck.

Hi ErikH,

I purchased a used 2013 Lariat. It had the stock sub and that was upgraded at some point in time as there is already a power wire running from the batter and a pile of wires under the back seat just laying on the ground with a line out converter as well. So, I purchased a decent powered enclosure from Rockford Fosgate and I'm wanting to install it myself. However, the more I read, the more I think I'm lost on a few steps. Can I ask you a few questions about how your install is going? The first one being, which amperage fuse did you use in your inline fuse (within 18" of the battery) and how did you determine that fuse rating?

Thanks,
Ben

hiya, Ben.

I'm just in the planning stage for a while. It's snowing here and I don't have room in my unheated garage for the truck, so it's gonna be a late spring install. I'll try to update this thread once I actually begin the installation.

Thanks,
Erik

You need to determine what size the wire ran from the battery is first, That will determine what size fuse to use. That will also tell you if the existing wire is big enough for the new equipment. Chech the new equipment for required power. A trick to determine wire size if it's not marked is use a set of wire stripers to see which hole the wire fits in.(strip a piece and see where it fits snug) You can post here or a quick google search will guide you on fuse size against wire sizes. Some powered subs come with everything, including fusing, power wire, etc to assist in setup.
