Great idea! Unfortunately, I don't have that lip around the pin, so this mod won't work for me. So, what I do is just use the closed end of a wrench to grab the pin and pull up on it. Works like a charm every time.

Any tips for getting the latch open for the first time?

I have tried from the side and top and cant seem to release the latch on my 2010 super crew.

Thanks for any tips or suggestions you can offer!

Does this mod work on the 2011 screws? I have looked but the seat seems like its made different then the pics shown. Did they change the seats for 11 model year?

The piece that you put the wireties on is smooth with no ridge on it so the wireties will slide off on the 2011's you have to drill a hole thru it and use wire thru the hole.
