Default question on issues with a/c

please excuse my ignorance in HVAC.

yesterday it was up to 80* out and i decided to turn on the a/c. a few mins after driving I realized it's still on max a/c and it's not really blowing cold air. i got my thermal gun and showed ranging 80-90* air blowing from the vents. no matter the setting and no matter the vent. i've had this truck since 2013 and never had issues with it. drove back home for lunch so had it parked for about 40mins. tried again and was blowing about 83-85*. even after work, nothing changed. it was making a hissing noise from the dash, glove box area. almost like where you have a leak in an air hose.

cold front blew in overnight so now outside temp is in the low 40's. not sure if it means anything but trying all settings, now reading roughly 49-52* from the vent. no noise from the dash or glove box area. should i wait for another warm day to take it to the dealer to check? not sure if ambient, outside temps need to be warm to get any type of proper service check from the dealer.

I don't know what else i can check on my own to try and figure out the problem before i take it in and probably be without a truck for a couple of days. I do have a Ford ESP.

this sound intriguing if nothing helps.

going home and coming home from lunch just now. a/c temps on low and max a/c read 75-80* from the vent. hissing noise is back but a little quieter than before. will be dropping off tomorrow or Monday morning.

another thing to note, not sure if it's related to the a/c. turning on the truck when it sits for a while sounds like water is being shaken up in a container underneath the dash.

Sounds like you're low on coolant. Engine coolant. Maybe refrigerant, too.

dropped it off Monday morning and got the truck back yesterday. they replaced the a/c evap core. they ran the dye test and found the leak there so they replaced the whole assembly. Haven't tested it since it's been close to freezing here the past couple of days. will test this weekend when it gets warmer but seems fine when i did a quick test with my thermal gun. also got both codes fixed, P012B & P012D. replaced some turbo sensors and all runs well now. thankfully i had an ESP I bought from Flood Ford a couple of years ago. it just paid for itself yesterday.
