Default question on f150 options, a bit confused

I'm looking to buy/order a f150 and I'm a bit confused about options. The way I read it is like this:

HD load option is only for 8' bed (reg & super cab) or 6.5' (crew)
HD towing on 4x4 cannot be had with 4x4 off-road package
6.2L is only for Crewcut
Lariat is the highest level of trim for super cab

I'm trying to spec out a super cap with 6.5' bed and a high level of trim, ecoboost, HD load, HD towing, 4x4, 36gallon tank. When going through the website, the standard 4x4 off road stuff get's eliminated and there is no HD load option or 36 gallon option. I can only get close using lariat. Am I doing this right?

Thanks, Richard

I'm assuming you can't have the HD payload and 4x4 package combined because the HD payload has stiffer suspension. I believe 36 gallon comes standard which is why it's not listed as an option.

Is the tailgate step useful or a gimmick?

If you have a bad back, leg, knees, etc... It's worth it's weight in gold.

Right. However, when I build&price your truck on Ford.com, it shows HD tow and off-road pkg both. So maybe Ford changed that restriction recently.

6.2L is only for Crewcut
Lariat is the highest level of trim for super cab
Raptor comes with SuperCab and 6.2L engine, but only 5.5' bed.

I'm trying to spec out a super cap with
6.5' bed and
a high level of trim,
ecoboost,
HD load,
HD towing,
4x4,
36gallon tank.
HD Payload pkg requires 3.73LS axle. So on the Ford Build&Price website, the first thing you chose is the 3.73LS axle and EcoBoost engine. Don't choose other options that will change the axle. And no, it's not available on a SuperCab with a 6.5' box. And a SuperCab with 8' box is not available with higher than XLT trim.

So you can have a SuperCab Lariat 4x4 EcoBoost 6.5' box, 3.73 e-locker axle, Lariat Plus pkg, and the max tow pkg. That gets you everything you wanted except the HD Payload pkg. If you want to add the HD Payload pkg, then you have to move up to a Lariat SuperCrew with 3.73LS axle.

If you'll move up to a SuperCrew, then you can also choose Platinum trim with 6.5 box, EcoBoost, 4x4, 4.10 e-locker axle and max tow, but no HD Payload pkg.

36 gallon tank is not an option. It is standard on almost all 2012 4x4s. The only exception is the regular cab shorty 4x4, which has the 26 gallon gas tank.

HD payload is a very stiff suspension and you'll feel every bump, so unless you're sure you need the extra payload, I'd stick with the regular suspension.
I'm pretty sure that the max tow package will increase your payload by 500 lbs, so that may be another option to get a higher payload.

Thanks guys, clears it up for me. I have nothing against 4-doors (my prior KR F250 had them and so does my current tundra) but my kids are now driving and I prefer the leg room of a supercab and the extra foot of bed without making the truck to long for a garage.

Do you really need the HD packahe? As stated above it is verry stiff. It will be like riding in a superduty

I thought maximum trim is Crewcut, unless you shave the door handles.
