Maybe one style of ford 20x8.5 wheel has a different offset than another. Idk
That would be the delta 8 inch wheel vice 8.5 inch wheel vice a 9 inch wheel...

The wheel by the looks of my options would be a 9" wide wheel. Still not sure what to go with though, I know I do want them to be flush. Looks like +20 would be perfect with stock fender flares, aggressive but not sandblasting paint.

my current wheels are 20x9 +35 with 295/65/20 Nitto trails mounted on them and they set nearly flush with my fender.

They'll fit. There was a member running 0 offset novakanes with 305/50r20 tires with no level. I ran novakanes and 305/55r20 tires with just s level and had to trim a tiny bit.
