after reading threads on intake mods for older model trucks i popped the hood looking to see if anything could be done to improve it, honestly i really didn't come up with much of anything.

i do have a question on a part of it though, not really sure what it is, never seen one on an intake before. its the object circled in the picture coming off the intake tube.

 

i think it is supposed to be a silencer. it's supposed to keep the noise of the air going in down. at least that is what i have seen posted before.
