In 1989 Exxon spilled oil into the ocean.. People are still buying Exxon. We can game this all day but BP works for my truck.. Ford recommends it.. I've tried several others my truck likes what it likes...

Trust me.. BP gas is about 10 cents higher than any other station.. I'm cheap.. If I could find cheaper better quality then i'd surely forget the letters B and P..

The fact that BP is not on the list does not bother me one bit. I would not give them my business anyway, not because of the spill but because of the way the dirtbags handled the aftermath. But here is not the place for that conversation. In my area, BP is priced on the lower end of the spectrum, usually closer in price to valero and Hess than it is to Chevron or Mobil/exxon.

It does surprise me that sunoco is not on the list and do agree with others that this is a marketing tool to an extent.

Whatever you do, do not fill up at Costco/BJ's/Sams club. That is some of the worst fuel out there.

I have family that live on the gulf coast and they use BP all of the time. It's only a small percentage that are not using BP. Life is pretty much back to normal down there and it's almost as if everyone has forgot/forgive and moved on.

Don't know if that is true, but I do use top tier gas exclusively.

In Roundel magazine some time ago, BMW went cross country taking gas samples and checking for ethanol concentrations. The pumps here in Texas say "may contain up to 10% ethanol" but BMW's findings were a little different. Nationwide they never found an ethanol enriched sample with 10% or less ; every sample was over 10% by varying degrees. BMW was having a lot of check engine lights on new cars that couldn't be traced to anything other than the fuel; their finds confirmed that gasoline in the US tends to be greater than 10% ethanol content. I'm sure BMW reflashed their way out of the problem, but now they (and other manufacturers) are fighting the want to go to 15% ethanol!

My 2002 330ci absolutely hates ethanol enriched gas, but he gets by; I get the random "oxygen sensor out of range" trouble code and it is because he was produced before the ethanol program got started. All of his PCM parameters are set up for 100% gas. Was kinda tough; replacing every vacuum related part trying to solve the out of range O2 sensors problem when it was the gas all along. Write it off as cost of doing business I suppose.....
I hope they don't go to 15%! You'll have trouble with motorcycles lawnmowers, boats and anything 2 cycle! I lost 10 miles per gallon on my old Honda Goldwing using 10% ethanol gas!

I've read that gas stations will be required to still have 10% ethanol for small engines. There will also be a big warning placard by 15% ethanol stating do not use in small engines.
