Do you have any links? Although I can't afford half this stuff but I really like understanding the science behind it, as I am attempting to get an undergrad degree as an ME.
As far as HIDs or LEDs in halogen reflector housings go, there's always going to be people that condemn it. I'm not a fan, you're breaking the law, your light output will probably be worse but you're free to do whatever. I feel like you should be considerate and evaluate wether or not you're honestly going to disrupt other road users with them, and if you are, ditch them. I did the same thing with my XB LED fogs on my lifted truck. They looked bright as hell from inside and they were aimed up a little high. Went outside the truck and sat in front of them for a while, and as nit picky as I am I didn't think they would kill anyone's night vision and they didn't glare, so I left them.
I've passed new Acuras with LED headlights that were aimed improperly, from the factory or by user error, that were absolute torture to drive by as they were cresting a hill (I'm in a truck 5 inches higher than a normal F150 for perspective).
Final opinion: live and let live, don't interfere with anyone else's existence on the road at night.

I'm trying to find it. They look just like the LED bulbs.

Nothing technical about it. Anything other than what came from the manufacturer is illegal. The difference is a retrofit is putting in a projector that was designed for the light source. The OEM reflector housings were specifically designed for a halogen bulb. Nothing else. That is the difference.

1. - For all you people using the word "****" go travel to Dachau, Ozwiecim or the Holocaust museum in Jerusalem. (you guys need a history lesson)
2. - LEDs in Halogen housings are in violation of DOT laws. (for VERY obvious reasons)
3. - It still amazes me what people don't know! (a testament to parenting and the education system)

let me ask for some advise. Not to hijack our thread. do these types of LEDs really cause problems with oncoming drivers at night?! My headlights terrible cant see well...and I know they are designed that way on purpose as to not blind drivers. I was thinking of some LEDs and adjust beam downwards a bit but my wife too says not to as I will be a pain in the ***** to other drivers. I want it brighter and to see better but I dont want to get flashed all the time? what if any are my o[ptions here. Im thinking LEDs as I see a lot of new cars with them and they arent too bad oncoming....a bit but not too bad..and I can always aim downwards a bit??? live in country so seeing is a mist with all the deer!!!!!!

Halogen bulbs = reflector bowl. HID capsules = projector housing. LED has NO AFTERMARKET housing designed for its use. Only factory/OEM manufacturers have designed a housing that LED's are to be used in. Why is this hard for some of you here to understand? This post is not directed at anyone in particular. There is no valid argument as to use LED's in any housing other than one they came in from the factory.
