My 6.2 Lariat does the same thing. Seems to only happen when the engine is not warmed up and when I am pulling out of the driveway at idle speed or when I am slightly over idle speed and then let off the gas. The OP described exactly what is happening to me. I'm glad I'm not the only one and that it's not a huge issue. Thinking about getting a 5 star tune...

I have a 2012 5.0 STX 4x4 that does this. Called salesman who I've bought countless Fords from so I hope he wouldn't ruin a loyal customer relationship with BS; this is his explanation of the issue. The truck is in " learning mode" in its first few thousand miles. It "chugs" because it is finding the highest gear possible for fuel economy. If you baby it, it will continiue as it is going to the tallest gear available. For me, I like a very fast accelerating truck so I punch it any time possible. The motor has really woke up and the chugging has mellowed out a lot; the chugging is almost completely gone. My advice; drive it like you stole it......good luck guys.
