Default Pulled the pin today (ordered 2013 SCrew)

Just wrote the deal on my new truck this morning...

2013 SCrew 4x4 5.0L 5.5' XTR in Blue Jean Metallic.

Traded my 2011 SCab on it - losing my shirt on the deal, as the 2011 got hit this summer... About a 7k loss on the trade, vs. a truck that hadn't been hit. I was upfront with the dealer, and they were good to me about it; but still stings.

Really looking forward to the truck - liked my SCab, but with the little one getting bigger, the suicide doors on the Super Cab was getting to be a real pain in the butt - getting back to 4 full sized doors will be a welcome change.

Sticker on the new truck was just a shade over 47k - but am getting a good discount (loyalty, trade-your-ride program, etc)... Happy at the end result.

I have never traded a vehicle in for a brand new ordered vehicle. Here is my question: what happens to your trade while you wait all those weeks for your new truck? Do they take it and now you don't have a vehicle until the new one gets there? Or do they let you drive your old one? Just curious.

Most dealers will take that into account. They will reappraise when the deal gets done to make sure no new damage, not excessive driving, etc. If the car is a few years old most of the time the values dont change enough for the dealer to drop the trade value. If they do its a couple hundred. If it is a 6 month old Cadillac or Mercedes or something like that then yeah you will be looking at a big reduction in trade appraisal because those depreciate like mo fos.

Typically you just drive the vehicle you're trading in until you get delivery on your new vehicle. It can get complicated if you get in a crash or something though.

Default Recovering for "Reduced Value" after accident

It is possible to recover for the reduced value of your truck after an accident.

I leased a new FX4 after my Tacoma was hit and repaired (almost $9000 damage).

The repair work was very good....but used car appraiser could find a few telltale spots.

NADA value of the truck as a "clean trade-in" was $28000. I got $23000 in trade.

Based on advice from my insurance company, I've gone after the insurance company of the person that hit the Tacoma to recover on this loss.

Haven't had a response from them yet....so we'll see.....

The truck isn't a custom order from the factory; it's being brought in from another dealer; I should take delivery mid-late next week.

As for diminished value claims - In Canada, insurance doesn't pay for diminished value, the owner of the truck that hit me isn't responsible because it was stolen, and the two 18 yo girls in the truck don't have a pot to **** in, so no point in throwing good money after bad to sue them - pretty much the perfect storm of taking it up the ***...

I think it is called Diminished Value Car Insurance Claim is what you are looking for. From first glance, this site has some good information on it http://www.insure.com/car-insurance/...car-value.html
