Turned on the AC during today's scorcher and heard this bashing around in the blower fan.
Any ideas where it might have ripped off from before making its way t


o the hamster wheel? Looks like a vibration damper that a post would fit into.

 

Congratulations. Your fresh/recirculation door is now broken. Very common problem.
Most of the time it breaks in the fresh air mode. So You'll notice that your AC isn't cooling as well. You'll need to pull the blower motor and move the door into the recirculation mode. After that, you'll need to figure out a way to lock it into that position. I ended up driving a 3 screw through the housing in into the door to hold it into place.
