Problem! window visor vents on 2011........

I have used 2 brands of insert in the window channel window vent visors on my 2011 and neither will work! Both brands interfere with the function of raising the window and as they go up, the sensor feels restrictions, as they are designed to do, and automatically retract again. If you push on the vents a bit, the window will eventually set, but not at full up position so there is a lot of wind noise. The dealer ( not Ford but an independant) took them back and was scratching his head....never happened before..... I really wanted them as here in Florida we need them to vent the car while parked in the sun and heat but also need to keep rain showers out of the interior....... anyone else tried any rain units that hve had them function as designed ? I really do not like the looks of the exterior mounted units and my last truck, a '98 had not had any problems with them....... nor did my Escape.......

"In channel" vents will not work with auto up windows. Period. You have to use the stick on type. This is due to the anti pinch feature.

Sorry.

theses are not inchannel ones they are stick ons but dont stick onto the paint just the rubber around the window i freaking love them. by far the lowest profile of any i have seen and they made it through a whole winter here in PA

I don't know why people don't like the stick on types. I had them on my old 4runner and they worked great and looked good too. They looked just like the seamless vent visors above but came out a bit more.

I just ordered the seamless vent visors after reading all the problems with the in-channel ones. I wasn't too crazy about them anyway.

Cause they dont look as good and eventually get ripped off or fall off, the ones above your post look ok though, never seen those kind before.

You cant adjust the pinch sensitivity and get them to work?

The windows need to be re-timed. I had the AVS In-Channel and tried retiming them several times and gave up. I purchased the AVS Seamless as shown in 20STX10's post above and love them!

If you feel adventerous here is how you re-time Ford windows:

Credit goes to a forum member who works for Ford and I didn't want to post his/her name without permission, fyi...the dealer confirmed these steps as well.

    Sorry.

Do the 2011's have the auto-up windows?

You have to be patient and roll the window up manually... Once near the visor makes sure it doesn't catch and roll all the way up.... It may take a few tries... Leave windows up for a few days and all should be right in the world..... You can use in channel visors, I've got a full set of weathertechs!
