Problem after lead frame change
I have a 2013 f150 4x4. It has 147000 miles. I changed the lead frame after a P0720 code. I replaced the connector bulkhead and a new valve body seal. Everything seemed fine for about a week and a half. After excellerating and letting of the gas the truck shuttered and threw the wrench light. The transmission functioned fine and I checked the codes when I got home. It had a P0770 code for shift solenoid e. I cleared the code and the truck was fine for about 24 hrs. The next day after driving probably 50 miles, truck shuttered and bucked pretty hard, while in traffic. It did this a few times while trying to find a safe place to get out of traffic. The truck stayed in first gear, I shut off and restarted the truck. It finally got up 3rd and finally got into transmission limp mode. The scanner was still hooked up. I had a P0770 and a P0771. Does anyone believe just changing the shift solenoid E will remedy the problem? Hoping for a cheap fix. These solenoids appear to be inexpensive as transmission parts go. My understanding is this solenoid sends fluid for 4,5,6 shift. It appears to freak out when it tries to go to fourth. It's pretty violent if your on the gas.

I'd throw a new valve body in there. I just changed my lead frame and thought about changing the valve body too. I hope I don't regret that. I didn't change the bulkhead connector or use a new valve body seal. Not sure what a valve body seal even is unless you're talking about those 4 little plastic ports the fluid runs in. I didn't screw with those either. I tend to leave stuff alone if it looks good and has been working fine
On mine I was getting the bang from 4th to 3rd. The dealer says that it has the updated software. I had done a trans service, with new lead frame. I replaced the wire harness connector, and the seal between the valve body. I also cleared trans shift strategy. Then started learn new strategy. Pretty easy to do the shift strategy with my Innova scanner.
I have had it still happen a couple of times. But much less violent.
It might be better to replace the valve body like TheKurgan mentioned. Don't the solenoids come with the valve body? If one solenoid goes bad, might be time to bite the bullet. Can the dealer do the software update on the trans for free? I would call a local dealer to find if it has been done. Good luck

What seal are you guys talking about? The square brown one? If problems arose after the replacement then it could be something related to the work you did. Did you get the thermal bypass valve installed correctly? Did you install the foam sleeve between the valve body and lead frame? Did one of the transfer tubes come out or get put back in wrong? Torque specs followed? Fluid at proper level? Is the bulk head connector installed tightly and locked down all the way? If you had the battery unplugged while you did the work (which hopefully you did) it should reset the shift strategy.
