PowerStop Z36 Brake Kit Feedback
I hope this isn't a duplicate thread but I didn't see anything like it. I know the PowerStop Z36 brake kit is a very popular kit for the F150 and many guys on here have installed them and seem to love the improved stopping distance right off the bat. I want to get some longer term feedback. Please post how long (time) or how many miles you have been running the PowerStop kit and answer any or all of the following questions.
- Has the improved braking performance remained or do you notice more fade after awhile?
- Does the zinc coating do a good job of preventing rust on the hats and veins?
- How does the brake dust compare to OEM?
- Have the rotors held up? Any warped rotor type issue similar to OEM?
- Did you buy the complete kit or did you but rotors and pads separately from RockAuto?
- Would you buy again/recommend this kit to others?
- Did you look at any other brake options before making the decision to go with the Z36 kit?
Any other comments or anything I forgot?

I replaced my rotors and stock pads due to vibrations when braking and turning the rotors and new pads only lasted 1000 miles before the shake came back.
I decided to go with new stock rotors and the hawk lt pads.
It was a drastic improvement over stock braking. The hawk pads to put off more dust then the oem pads but the increased breaking is worth it to me. They don't grip as well when cold but once they get warm they grab.
I think I have 30k on them and I still have plenty of pads and no rotor issues.
I went this route because it was a lot less for me then the other kits with slotted rotors. I used a good coupon and multiple transactions at advance auto parts to get Wagner rotors and the hawk pads. It looks like they don't sell the pads anymore tho.
The total cost for me for all 4 wheels was $200.

The stock rotors SUCK a**! With my stock wheels I've been at the dealer 2-3 times to get them addressed. This last time I took it in they told me "oh, its not THAT bad of a vibration plus your tires are worn some and that could be causing it". I was more upset about them trying to insult my intelligence then the actual rotors needing to be replaced. And as bad as I wanted to go in with a new set of tires and tell them they are a bunch of idiots, I'm lifting my truck(like its being done today) and as soon as I pull in the dealer now with my "not worn tires" they are going to play the "oh, thats not factory tires and we can't warranty anything on your truck now" game. I just went to Advanced Auto and got me a set of brake rotors which HAVE to be better then the junk Ford is pumping out. But if they don't do the trick, then I'm going to go this route that you guys are doing for sure.

I bought the hawk set of rotors and pads that were on sale on amazon a while back, do a search to find out which ones i cant remember right now. They made a 100% improvement. I only changed the fronts and i'm very happy. I changed them at about 15000 miles and now have 40,000 on them and they work great. Mater fact i never even think about my brakes any more. They dust a little more than oem but thats fine.

I installed these front and back on my 2013. Immediate improvement since the stock rotors were warped. I'm pretty satisfied with day to day driving. I did, however notice a disconcerting brake fade towing a heavy trailer and pretty fully loaded truck on a very steep decline.
I just started to pick up a slight squeak first time I touch the brakes in the morning.

I've had the full kit with z36 pads for a couple years now. They dusted like a mf at first but not so much now. I still have plenty of pad thickness left. They stop better when they are warm. Be sure to follow the bed in procedure.
