This is a loooong thread, but if you're gonna do the mod it's worth reading through the whole thing. At least take a look at these posts numbered below:
Post# 90 has a picture of the black bezel for the OEM telescoping switch

137 has part#s, but I think the bezel # is for the Adobe colored bezel if your interior/door panel is that color

161 has a picture of the Adobe colored bezel

166 has info on what pins on the OEM telescoping switch operate the telescoping feature

194 more pin info

219 more info on wiring lights

256 has pin-out diagrams of the connectors on the mirrors
Good luck - the PowerScope Tow Mirrors are a great mod!!

.
Thanks good bullet point list, I was thinking of just buying the 1aauto power fold mirrors but now that I can do the telescope as well, Ill be looking for some OEM mirrors hopefully for a good price!

Default Door Wire Loom

I completed this mod about 6 months ago but never finished the telescoping wiring due to lack of time to run wires across dash.

Now that I've had more time, I've come back to the project only to find that my truck uses a new style door loom that is a rubber boot on the door side and a quick disconnect plug on the truck pillar side. (Most of my older vehicles the loom ended at a rubber plug on both sides so it was easy to run additional wires thru it.)

I'm curious how others ran the wiring out from the drivers door to the truck and from the truck into the passenger door. The only thing I can see to do is take the door off and drill a new hole for additional loom. There is no going thru the quick disconnect plug.

My truck had a white plastic plug that needed to be unplugged from the door pillar and a hole drilled into the plastic plug mounted on the pillar. If you go thru the thread you will see examples.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone in this thread, you all put in great info and tremendously helped me install my mirrors in my '11 harley davidson! Once it warms up I'll try and get the telescope wires through the body plugs in the door! I'm gonna try and get pins that fit in the plugs so that I don't have to do any drilling!

Default passenger mirror field of view?

Thanks for all the great info in this thread guys. I managed to find a set of these locally for a great price and my install (no telescoping yet) took less than 30 minutes. Super simple and love the mirrors.

I do have a potentially simple question that I can't seem to find an answer to:

In the passenger upper mirror field of view, the glass must be curved as I find if the back of my truck is in view (left side of the mirror) I can't see what's immediately beside me (i.e. car in the lane next to me) until whatever is there is way behind me. I can see this likely being advantageous with a long trailer behind the truck but for daily driving - how do you guys set up the mirror to eliminate this big blind spot?

Do you put:
- truck in left side of upper mirror and use the lower convex mirror to see beside the truck?
- position upper mirror out to the right to see the lane beside you?

Seems as though the lower convex mirror is more useful as a daily driver?

thanks for any suggestions.

I believe the glass is curved. I have mine so I can see down my bed along with about half the car if it is in the blind spot, otherwise I find myself ducking down and double checking it all the time.

Post up some pictures when you get a chance! I recently finished the install on my 2011 Harley too.

I usually use the lower mirror to see what is exactly beside me, as well as checking like normal. I have the upper mirror set up so I can see the end of the bed, and that's about it.

Default Installed power folding/extending tow mirrors but don't know how to wire it

I just installed my OEM power folding, power extending, power adjusting and heated tow mirrors. I was only able to get the power adjusting working since that is all I had on my mirrors.

I bought the power folding switch and extending switch but I have no idea how to wire it. I couldn't fine any diagrams on my truck. My truck is a 2006 F150 Supercrew FX4.
Any ideas or should I just have the dealer wire it for me?

I just talked to the dealer and was told they could not do it, which was surprising. However this was probably for the best since it would have cost an arm and a leg. So I can't do it the OEM way now but I will make it work with aftermarket switches and by wiring it separately. It will be a PIA but worth it in the long run.
