Default power folding mirror rubbing on door?

On both sides they seem to hit the door when folded in. I’ve noticed it on the black, plastic trim on the mirror that it’s rubbing. Is there a setting to adjust how much it will fold in? does it fold in until it hits the door? Not sure if this is normal? thanks!

yanki01,

I have the same problem with my 2012 Lariat. I have a case open with the Ford West Coast Manager. At this point they are tell me I'm using an "Extreme" mirror setting. I don't think so, I believe it's a design/software flaw. Do a Google search 'F150 power mirror clicking' and you should be able to find my utube post showing my mirrors in action.

BTW it seems this issue has been aroud since 2010 or 2011.

I think he was talking about the power fold mirrors. I have the same issue with mine and I don't think that it's a problem. They don't spring back as a safety when it happens. I had some ice build up on mine a while back and they rebounded when they could extend all the way - similar to the safety on our auto up windows.

If your power mirrors are clicking, I agree with Ford - you have put them to an extreme. Every vehicle with power mirrors I have had do that when you reach the end of their movement.

But my mirrors are NOT at the end or even close to the end of the movement.

they touch when it's folded all the way in and rest about 1mm away from each other. enough to see daylight. the problem is when closing the door it hits the door causing the plastic to rub and show signs of wear in one area. I need to flip through the manual again to check if there's any setting for this.

Mine did that a few times when I got it but it was the glass touching because of the angle I had it adjusted at. Now I have figured out my seating position better I don't have the problem.

the mirror is fine on mine, it's the black/plastic trim on the bottom that rubs/hits when you close the door if the mirrors are folded in.
