Ok. But I never quoted the part about money. At least not where I can clearly see in the thread

The only quote I used had you referring to the op about money.

I was agreeing with you about the possible noise/ thump from the t-case while on the gas.

By money, I meant it's obviously going to cost to fix, as I am out of the powertrain warranty. Long gone...

I'm not really concerned about a thump, but it is a little more drastic than normal. It's the grinding sound that I am concerned with - that doesnt seem one bit normal at all...

Describe the grinding sound. Say, for example, does it sound like a marble on a really fast roulette wheel? What does it sound like?

I knew what you meant.

How often do you use the 4wd. Like periodically engage it just to keep everything moving.

Mine was grinding the other day but I was on the gas ad I said before.

Will it go in smooth when you we stopped.

You should have a 5 year/60k powertrain warranty, you said you have 53k on the truck.

My '11 started grinding/crashing into 4WD at 10k, Ford replaced the entire T-case and said there was a known issue with the clutch plate on the early '11's and that's what failed. Even with the new T-case it still has its moments, I've learned what the truck likes and doesn't like. I'm careful about putting it in and try to always be moving since if I put it in at a stop it will grind once I start moving forward. On occation it will be like old times and make a lot of noise, dealer told me to keep an eye on it and I have plenty of warranty left.

I would only be concerned if it does it off throttle. Also I find the hubs are slower to engage than say the Dodge axle disconnect system.
Sounds like the hubs to me though.
