Default Possible 2009 Screw 4.6

Was looking at trading up from my 2005 lariat 4wd to a 2009 screw 4.6.

Main question / general question:

How is the 4.6? I've found one in the price range I can prolly afford.

Make sure it's a 3v. The 4.6 is a reliable engine but does not have the power of the 5.4 or any newer and it does benefit from a custom tune. I had a 2010 and liked it quite a bit but I cannot compare it to the 5.0 I had or the ecoboost I have now as they are more powerful engines.

I don't feel like messing with the cam phaser bs on mine. And I don't really need the 4wd on mine as I've used it twice. What's the perk of 3v?

More power and torque over 2v better mileage.

I was always under the impression that the 2V got better mileage at the sacrifice of horsepower, an that the opposite was true for the 3V.....but after owning a 2V I would go for the 3V for sure!

I have an 09 4.6 3v screw and I think it's more than enough truck for me mainly a people mover though. I will be pulling a camping trailer next summer (5000lbs) so will see how it does.
