Default Poor gas mileage

Hey guys I've been getting a combined 12mpg (based off the instrument display) while driving it conservatively. Meanwhile I've seen videos of people with 4.56 gears, lift and 35s getting like 18mpg combined. I've got a 2" level, 33x12.5 r20s on 20x10s with 3.55 gears and a 5.0. Is this worth taking in to the dealership to get checked or anything I can do to improve this aside from stock wheels and tires?

When ever I see a drop in mine, I throw in a bottle of Techron which seems to help. Mine is a stock truck.

I'll look into that, I was considering getting a tune if it would help with the economy but knowing myself I'd just be burying my foot in it more often

Dont forget the obvious air filter and clean the throttle body. I have 50K on mine, how many on yours?

I doubt it will get any better... until winter blend fuel goes away.

I know the air filter does need to be changed. It has gotten significantly colder here but I didn't think it would affect it that much. It's got 21,xxx miles

I'm at 30,000 and get 16.6 combined. I think it's the best I'll get until I get on the interstate.

Another consideration is the larger tires are not only heavier but they are taller causing the actual distance traveled to change. This will cause the mpg calculation to be off.

This along with the heavier unsprung weight, dirty air filter and winter blend fuel... there's a lot going on that will cause poor mpg.

Some can be controlled, most cannot.

I've NEVER gotten above 15.1 mpgs on my '13 Limited and this includes road trips on the interstate! Should've just gotten a Raptor like I wanted instead of listening to everyone about how great the fuel mileage is on an ecoboost!! At least with a Raptor, I would've known it was going to get bad gas mileage from the start!!

What was your MPG before you lifted it and changed the tires?

Did you change the tire setting so that your MPG is properly calculated?

What was your MPG before winter gas kicked in?

My 2013 with over 15,000 miles has a lifetime average of 16.5 MPG. No lift, no big tires, all stock. Ignore the videos. I can get really good MPG on the highway doing 55 downhill also.
