I'm pretty sure that you can't just add the SD card to every MFT system to get the navigation to work. Might be worth checking on but if the solution were that easy I would guess the dealer would have just chucked it up to let this go.

*If* you bought 3 business days or less, then just take it back. You can cancel ANY contract within 3 days if you present it back to the seller in writing. Odds are that you're going to get stuck paying a fee for the mileage you used but *if* you're inside that 3 days then at least you have a way to get out of this mess. If you're outside of 3 days then you're at the mercy of them being nice which sounds like probably isn't going to happen.

I believe the SD cards are $100 or so to replace. The nav's $795 price on the sticker has to include other components in the system, I would think. Programming in the head unit? A satellite transponder somewhere in the vehicle?
It may not be as convenient, but maybe you can get the dealer to cover a sync services subscription (which has turn-by-turn directions through your celly) during your 3/36,000 warranty? As far as factory nav goes, I think you got hosed. Crucify them on the sales survey and never return.

The 3 day thing is not true. Each state is different but there generally is no law for a contract on a vehicle with a 3 day grace. That 3 day thing is typically for contracts considered home solicitation (like door-to-door salesmen) unless the dealer has a grace period in their OWN contract, which I have never seen. Bad advice and any dealer will laugh at you. Look it up if you don't believe me.

Rule one of any major purchase, if its not in writing you are hosed. That said something like "this vehicle is equipped with nav" is unlikely. It's your responsibility to make sure the car you are buying is the car you wanted.

Shame on you for not inspecting the car before you signed. Double shame on you for not inspecting the car after you signed and before you left. Don't know what the laws are where you are but a car in most cases isn't like most items. There is no return policy, you signed and took delivery of a car.

Is the salesman in the wrong? Maybe. But buyer beware is rule to live by. Could the dealer take the car back and swap for another? Sure but depending on how difficult you were or were not durning the purchase process could influence his decision.

Wrong. And unless you are a contract attorney don't give out such advice. Some state have a "cooling off" period to return a car, some state say once you drive it over the curb its yours, here the moment your pen leaves the paper, you own it, no ands, ifs, or buts.

That said I've canceled several deals in my time with this brand. Most get a different car, a few just walked away. I wasn't legally obligated to, but its better to loose that one battle than the war with everyone they will tell.

Call up the ladder. Sales Manager, Business Manager, Owner... It sounds like the best way to make this right is to upgrade your system to NAV. They can at least split the cost.

You're in Kimberley? Bought your truck in Cranbrook?

Tough business people in that town (I know one )

Let this be a lesson to you young man, ALWAYS read the fine print (and the not-so-fine print, like, what you're agreeing to buy)

You are at the mercy of the dealership or whomever you can convince @ upper mgmt.

Option: how about thinking outside the box here - trust me on this: You'd be MUCH better off spending (way less than) $800 on a nice new Garmin portable unit. Why? Several reasons including but not limited to: $89.00 for LIFE time map updates (rather than $200.00 for each new release from Ford); and, portability. You can move it any time you want to a rental car, a friend's car, take in on the airlines (to use in a rental car once you get there) or even walk around with it in your hand.

I will never have factory navigation in a car again. Oh, it works great, but...

New Garmin's at Costco run $200-$400 for real nice ones.

FWIW

Actually I usually buy at Denham Ford in Cranbrook, but the sales manager wouldnt budge on the price so I went to Melody Motors in Kimberley. I am still quite happy with the 12K I got off MSRP with all incentives and bartering, ok more than happy. Just the last few details I found out after the fact that bothered me. Yes I understand I was under informed on the details of the options. I had been under the impression that Nav was part of the 402a package, and when the salesman confirmed that, I left it at that. Learn for next time. All in all, I am still a loyal ford guy, just not too fond of that dealership now Thanks to all for your advice!

Well, Im not so disappointed about the lack of fill up for delivery anymore as something else has come to my attention. When I went to the dealer originally, I had 3 prerequisites for the truck I was looking for: Fx4, Leather, Nav system. As we went down the line up, the salesman showed me each truck that met my requirements. When we got to the truck that I ended up buying, he confirmed it had leather and nav. After I made my final offer, I was called the next day, being told we had a deal. I leave work early to get in before 5, just to find out the sales manager went home early, despite me making a late day appointment earlier that day. The next day I went in again, and they revoked the deal saying they cant go that low because of some financing tier system that upped my finance rate from 4.9 to 8.9. I walked out. They chased me down and said they would pay a $500 deposit to get me back to 4.9%, but take out the spray in box liner. I counter offered that we split the cost of the liner. After paperwork, I realized that they had added $1000 to the MSRP. I was told that was the last deal the sales manager had made. In a sense that is true, since the salesman called me and told me my final offer of $1000 less plus box liner was approved. Also my mistake for not quadruple checking the numbers. So not much I can do about that, and I accept that. The problem I have now, is the truck I bought does not have navigation. I looked in the manual and it mentioned needing a SD card. So i figured easy fix. Called up the dealer, and was informed my truck is not equipped with Nav. I asked to speak to the salesman I dealt with and explained that he had told me it had navigation, and it does not. He said he must have been mistaken. Now Im quite angry and said since he lied to me about one of the three requirements, what is he going to do about it. He said there is nothing he can do, its my truck now. I told him that after everything that has happened, there is no way I am giving you tens on the survey. He said thats fine you are entitled to your opinion.
That was our last conversation. I am unsure of what to do next. Im thinking there is nothing I can do, since its all signed and I took the truck off the lot. Any advice? Please help!
I would take the truck back if that's still an option. After they take it back tell them that you're going to go buy one from a dealer that will deal honestly with you. My guess is either there or at another dealer you will get what you were told you'd get at the onset

Get the number of the Ford Zone rep. Call them and see where they go from there. Call the local tv station. Call the news paper. Angie's list. Go scorched earth on these people. If you don't think they are laughing at you you're crazy.
