I have stock platinum wheels with 33/12.5r20 nitto terras on now. The wheel is 8.5" I think. Is it safe to run this? I am looking to buy New tires. 33/12.5 or 35/12.5 mud tires. The approved rim width is 9.5". Anyone ever had problems? I've been running these for over a year n no probs yet.

I ran some LT305x55x20 Nitto Terra's on my '11 Lariat on the factory 20's for over 2 yrs with no problems. So I would say the factory 20x8.5 wheels are OK. Tires wore great and looked good too.

I asked because some M/T's like Nitto trails are actually 13.4" wide when you buy the 12.50.

Ohh gotcha. I had trails n mud graps on my last truck and didn't know the trails actually measured out to over 12.5
