Replacing the factory sub becomes one of the most debated issues on this forum. There are so many options and "IMO's". I went this route because I did not want to get too invasive and wanted to be able to go back to original IF I HAD to. I am 47 and I wanted more than the little sony had to offer but did want to go over the top. It sounds great to me and fills the truck up and will vibrate the mirrors. All it is: a pac on the factory sub wiring and a MTX amp pushing a 10" kicker sub. I also changed the door speakers out. If it's too loud your too old. I am starting to get to that point, crap.

A person can swap the sub out but the factory amp has a roll off set to it at 60% volume to protect the system. It's more beneficial to power an aftermarket sub from a new amp but then you need to add channel summing processors. It is possible to just add a decent line converter to drive the amp but you still have to come off the factory amp which still implements the roll off and lowers the signal

Where did you get the box and amp, that setup looks great?

The box was built by the local stereo shop that I use, Collierville Car Stereo. I had him give me the box and I took it to a local Line X shop and had them spray it. I just did not want it carpeted, my personal preference. Bought the platinum letters for this from chromecarletters.com. I thought it turned out pretty good, BUT there is a lot of money just in the box.

I agree. I do notice some roll off. I have the HU bass set at -3 to -4 depending on the type music. For me this is 80's rock and some of the new rock or metal, NOT thrash metal. The amp is set at +6 decible and now I don't really notice the roll off until about the 3/4 volumn.
