I just did some reading on this. Not sure it still applies to the 2009+ models. This is for the 2004 up models, but it's an old thread from 2007.

Yeah. I wouldn't do it that way. I'm left handed. When it's not holstered on my hip, I put it in the cup holder in the driver side door. Works well since I'm left handed.

At least the thread is back on track after getting high jacked with opinions on gun control.

Agreed. The thread is about where to mount a pistol in your truck, not should people mount pistols in their trucks.

I agree but everyone is entitled to their opinion, right or wrong. Discussion is always good for the soul. Heated or not as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

It's balancing act. How far to let a Thread wander from it's original premise. I agree discussion is good, but in this case the divergence did not respect the OP's specified request for information. That being said, I would encourage anyone that wants to discuss the why's & when do you on "the subject of carrying", to post their own Thread, or join in a Thread on the subject in the "Off Topic" section of the Forum if they wish, & those that participate, do so w/ mutual respect shown.

Man, love this thread.
Living in California is a struggle trying to carry concealed.

My concern is if pulled over and I'm asked if there is a firearm in the vehicle. I don't want to lie, but I don't want to acknowledge since it completely changes the dynamics, would involve getting out, inspection/further issues/longer contact, etc.

I assume if I have a lockbox with no access, I would feel comfortable saying "no" since it couldn't be proven otherwise.

Something that bugs me...you can have a metal lockbox, but it can't be permanently attached to interior of vehicle. It needs to be either loose or attached with a removable locking cable. That sucks..if someone breaks in, it's much easier for them to steal. Bolted to floor would be very difficult to steal.
