Default PCM?

Hello new to forum. I have a red 2011 F150 FX2 Ecoboost with around 120k miles. Never had any issues with it until now. I changed the spark plugs with Motocraft plugs and they were gapped correctly. Truck ran great for two weeks. I was driving onto a highway so I accelerated to hop on and had a huge misfire. I had to stop driving and have it towed home. This misfire was cylinder 5 and 6. Both ignitions coils had no spark and showed that they had a short. Took it to a mechanic and he told me somehow my ECU/PCM got fried. How could PCM get fried? I did have a scanguageII on it and had it on for years A ScanguageII is a real time reader connected to OBDII port. I did notice that the Scangauge went crazy with numbers letters etc, as if it malfunctioned. I am wondering if my scangauge went bad and it messed up my ECU. another possiblity is (which I doubt) that I used electical spray cleaner on coils and coil connector. Not sure what could have caused the ECu to go bad. Has anyone had this experience before?

Any idea how a two coils can short? I don't want to repeat it again.
