I believe the seat has to see a weight for it to work. I believe the national weight for child in front is 80 lbs so if you weigh more than 80 it should shut off light and activate bag.

I have had a laptop bag in the front seat and it was heavy enough to register but not heavy enough to kill light.

yuke175 and sharper4,

I'd like to loop in your regional customer service manager on this. Could you please PM me your name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealer info?

Default 2014 airbag

The passanger airbag light came on the other day when i was passenger with service manager driving. He told me that i must have turned it off. I called ford and they verified that the airbag dissables itself only when the seat is empty. I just purchased the vehicle and it was in for warranty service. What gives with the service manager blamming me for fords problem. This will be 2 warranty services in 1000 miles. Again i created a case number with ford. Ford also denied that my vehicle was related to the recall of the same.

I have also had this same issue. Mine is a 2012 and has always intermittently said airbag off when someone is sitting in the seat. I have tried different backrest position and different forward and rear positions to see if it makes a difference but no luck. Now starting last week my airbag light in the instrument cluster comes on for a while and goes off the next day. I ran a vehicle health report and it did pick up something wrong with airbag system. I'll be taking it in next week.

Welcome to the forum, Mattthecat! I'm Brittany, the customer service representative; it's a pleasure to meet you.

Please send the case number to me privately so I can investigate this further. Additionally, fill me in with the current mileage as well.

You're doing the right thing by bringing your truck in for this, japrine. What's the current mileage? Please let me know how it goes with the dealer; I'll be here to help if you need anything!

Brittany
