Default Pass Airbag Light on Dash

Hi all,

I noticed today (not sure if it's always been on) but the passenger airbag indicator light on the dash is on. The manual indicates that this light should be off (unless a few criterias are found, e.g. child child or safety seat). I have neither of those cases.

Has anyone had this issue before and what was your end result? I assume I'll have to take this to the dealer to have them (review). Do you think this will be covered under warranty?

Thanks

mine comes on when I have my laptop or camera bag sitting in the seat.

It also comes on if there's stuff packed under the seat. it messes with the sensors or something & it doesn't like it.

Default air bags

Did you have a large box or something on the pass. seat? That will do it.

I also have this issue, but it is when my wife sits on the seat. She is about 130lbs. It will go on then a few minutes later will turn off, and if we are on a longer trip it went on and off a few times.I took a video of it and showed the dealer. Since they said they couldn't do nothing right at that moment cause they were to busy i was to go in on Friday Jan 4th. Good thing i called before i went in since the guy i talked to is no longer with the company and nothing got ordered and now have to wait another 3 weeks before i can go in again because of my work schedule. But the shop manager told me that they would get some one to sit in the seat and if the light didnt go on that that was the end of the testing cause there is no way of really diagnosing the issues without the light being on, which i find dumb. I hope they atleast order me a new bladder for the seat to fix the problem. He was telling me that the tipping point for it to go off is about 100-125 lbs which i believe is not true since i use to build the seats for chrysler and i think it was around the 60lbs mark where it would turn it off or on. Let me know what happens with your and i will with mine.

I had mine into the dealer 3 separate times before they figured out the problem. Turns out I had a short of some type in the seat, and they replaced the entire seat trac assembly.

Ever since then (mid July 2012), it has worked perfectly.

the OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR (aka the weight sensor) is part of the seat track (because that makes sense, lets make a $20 switch not replaceable so you have to buy a $700 seat track).
I would have this checked out at the dealer. pretty sure the airbag system has a longer warranty than the standard 3/36 but I am not 100 sure on that. either way its worth getting checked out.
