Default Parking light question

Our trucks use a 3157 bulb for the parking lights and turn signals. I was wondering if anyone here new if you could use a 3156 as just a turn signal without the parking light since the 3156 is a single filament bulb. I am looking for a way to eliminate the parking light without cutting any wires.

I know I could just spend $5 and try it, but I want chrome bulbs that light up amber and none of the part stores around here carry them so I have to get them online.

I can't help with the bulb question, but I will tell you the chrome bulbs look 100 times better. I got a set off of ebay. I actually got those and a set of silverstars to see which would look better. I prefer the look of the chrome ones.
