Default Parking brake stuck?

I've never used this before and only owned this truck for 2 months. I used the brake today and it is not releasing. The light is still showing on the dashboard and I did get a little shaking on the highway, not much though. Anyone have any ideas how to go about solving this problem before I taje it to a mechanic.

Use two hands...pull up on the foot pedal while releasing the handle. It'll turn the annoying chime off. Mine has the same problem but I'm too lazy to fix it. Something under the dash needs replacement I think.

Chances are the parking brake actuators are rusted up causing them to bind since they're not used often enough. They need to be cleaned up ore replaced.

Yeah that's something along the lines my dad said lol. I'm in MA right now so he will check it out when I get back home in New York in 2 days, hopefully nothing happens on the way lol.

Mine was the same. Funny thing is it goes in Tuesday for what they call the pivots on the ebrakes. Like the previous person said if not used often enough they start to seize up and causes the light to stay on and makes you pull up on the peddle a bit to make it fully release

Probably a good idea to use the parking brake all the time instead of letting the transmission hold the truck in place.

Even with use the dirt and dust gets in the pivots and still causes them to stick. I've used mine everyday since new and it started acting up after a couple years

Mine isn't the pivots. I pulled the entire assembly on both sides and inspected everything. Then cleaned and lubed everything. The pivots were working fine at reassembly. Parking brake issues are still there. After the first use, I get the "squeak squeak squeak" from the rear for a mile or so and the foot pedal won't release all the way. Terrible design judging by how many people have the issue.
