Default Painted running boards

The average quote I recieved was between $75 and $140 to have them Line-X.
So I decided to head to the parts store and buy two cans of truck bed coating. What do you guys think?

I want to do that to my black truck. Did you tape off the steps first? Or did you just spray the whole thing?

Do any of the F-150 models come with black running boards?

Please post details. I tried to go the line-x route today also and I was told I needed to go get the chrome sand blasted off.

I am thinking about doing this to mine. The chrome looks like crap and the liner would make it look alot better imo

Thanks for the compliments!

I'm not a pro at this so don't be afraid to come up with your own ideas.
You can pry the end caps with a screw driver, make sure you pry on the side facing down. They should pop right out.
I taped off the top plastic steps. Make sure you use a razor to remove the over spray as it will be stuck to the tape.
Cleaned them up and used 220 sand paper. You might want to go with a different grit maybe a 150, again its up to you.
Your going to need 3 cans as I was only able to get two coats on the bottom of the bars not three like the top.
Dupli-Color Truck Bed Coating $8.99 a can.
