Default Painted to Match Bumpers

Hey guys I am a new member on here and this is my first post. I currently have a 2012 F150 with chrome front and rear bumpers. I am getting the bumpers professionally stripped of the chrome and painted to match my Dark Blue Pearl F150. I was wondering if anyone has got their bumpers painted like this and how it turned out for them? Any tips or suggestions?

Painted bumpers are standard on the STX and FX trims. You may have been able to locate a used one cheaper then paying to get the old chrome stripped and repainted. If your old chrome bumpers are in good shape, you could have sold them to recoup some of the cost of buying new primered bumpers and the cost for the paint. They also sell new primered bumpers on Ebay all the time. I know because my STX front bumper is showing rust.

On a side note, the painted bumpers look good. But if I ever had mine refinished or purchased a replacement, I would definitely look into some protective or rubberized spray as they take a beating.

I agree, I drive mostly interstate and pick up a lot of rock chips on the bumper and facia. Yes, the stock, painted bumper will rust and gets to looking nasty in short time.

I took my bumper off and had it Line-X'd. Holding up quite well now.

Welcome to the forums If its 4x4, I agree... have it kevlar'd. If it is 2wd, either buy them off craigslist any color and get em painted, or get lucky like I did and find em already your color. Price to strip chrome and repaint is REdunkulous.

I have the PTM bumpers too and they sure do take a beating every winter around where I live. Almost hate them because they are constantly getting bombarded with rocks and salt.

I was thinking to have them painted again and then to cover them in 3M vinyl wrap to protect, too late now, but wanted to paint a color to match the flares on the FX4 model. Its gray and looks to be the same color as a stock Raptor bumper color. Anybody know what the color is for the Raptor bumpers are?

If you do get them PTM'd just put 3m clear bra on them before they start getting rock chips.

I was thinking of doing the same as you couldn't get PTM bumpers in Gem Green.

I was wondering about powder coating as opposed to paint, it might stand up better.

Seems as though it would be less expensive to find a set of already painted bumpers.
