Default Paint Issues

Not sure if anyone else is or has had any experience with this. I bought a 2013 Tuxedo Black FX4 back in late September. I've noticed over the past couple of months that on the driver side and back door edging, the paint appears to be peeling off. It's not really noticeable unless you look for it. When I saw it on the front drivers side door, I brought it to the dealer and their first reaction was - "well, you opened the door and hit something - the doors open real wide, ford won't bother with a warranty claim". I had door detents 3.0 on the truck a week after buying the truck....not that that's the end all be all of preventing bumping another car in a lot, but I've been pretty careful. But, I said fine, I won't argue.

Today, when I got home from work, I opened the drivers side rear passenger door. What do i find? Same issue. Now, I don't have any kids (yet) and I don't really use the back for anything...my bag just goes in the front seat. Oddly enough, same peel pattern as well. I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow, but just wanted to see if anyone else had these issues in the past.

I'm a painter at a Ford dealer body shop. Haven't come across this yet. Sounds like a bad respray to me. Pics? How deep is it peeling? Like is it just the clear? Or color too?

Here's some pictures. Not sure if its clear enough. Its actually the clear and the color. Havent seen it peel anymore though I've negkected to really focus on it lately. Depth wise...maybe as deep as two sheets of paper stacked together.

Mine looks the same on the passenger side doors. I didn't notice until I left the dealer with the car. I assumed someone had thrown the door open too wide and hit another car at some point while it was at the lot. I keep saying I am going to try and fix it with a little touch up paint. I just haven't gotten to it yet

Hate to say it, but unless the paint continues to peel, all you can do is touch up and go. Without actually seeing it in person, i kind of agree with your dealership. Mainly because if the paint were failing, you'd have a much larger issue by now. Delamination(peeling) once started, doesn't like to stop. Keep us posted, if it goes anymore. I have similar spots on my doors, i also have no clue as to how it happened.

It doesn't really bother me bc like you said...a little touch up paint and you're set...I just get concerned about it potentially getting worse over time. We'll see...hopefully it doesn't get any worse.
