Padded and covered my center console lid on my '13 fx4
I dont know about you guys, but I absolutely hated how hard my center console lid was. Not to mention the ergonomics of the truck put your elbow right on the corner where it is hardest. I was having issues with my elbow because of it and I quit using it as an armrest. Thus I started looking into options on it being padded.
I found pre-done lids that were ready to bolt on for $180 but they didnt look like they had very much padding. I opted to buy a leather cover for it for $40, then a 1" thick poly fill sheet (compresses when you pull leather around it) from wally world for about $6. Took about an hour to cut the padding to shape, stretch the leather around and staple it to the underside of the lid (I had pretty much completely disassembled the lid). Reassembled the lid and put it back on. Wow. Its actually comfortable now. Nice even pressure rather than such a focused pressure at the wrong spot on your elbow.
If you are tired of that hard armrest, I recommend something like this. This company offered them in several different colors of stitch.

Childish Comments
I was raised with the thought of "if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all." Someone does a quality modification to their vehicle and more than one person takes childish, immature jabs because they think that it is inferior. I see this a lot around here - is it really necessary to bad mouth someone's work that they are proud to share? Must be nice to be so perfect...

You were "having issues" with your elbow because of a hard armrest? Do you LIVE in your truck or something? I've never heard of such a thing.
Anyway, the padding looks cool and comfy. I would have never thought of doing this as I have zero "issues" to date from sitting in any vehicle I've ever owned.
