P0299 Resolved
I thought I'd let you guys know what happened to my 2013 ecoboost. memorial weekend I had a P0299 code come up when coming down hill on the 5fwy with the boat(approx 6500lbs) from pyramid lake. I didn't have a loss of power and everything felt fine. Got home checked the code, check air hoses and everything was nice and tight so I cleared it after speaking to my service adviser. He told me that if it happened again to bring it in. fourth of July weekend had the light turn on again, this time going up hill on the 5fwy towing the boat again. This time I did feel a loos in power even though I could still hear the turbos spooling up. Took it in to the dealership, and they found a problem with the wastegates on both turbos. Both turbos were replaced with what I'm told are updated turbo assemblies, updated part numbers which are not the same turbos. Picked up the truck yesterday and it feels great. I'm attaching a screenshot of the service invoice they sent me in case anyone wants to see the parts used for this TSB 16-0013.
Good to know and good information. I've used an air compressor to diagnose wastegate issues on turbo cars for over 20 years. I like to see that they are at least making an effort to verify an issue and not just throw parts at it and hope it fixes it.
it was covered under warranty, truck has 59,359 mikes on it. And to be honest, a lot of those are hard mile. up and down grades with the boat and camping gear. I also take it off road, and when I do I push it hard.
