Default P0299 code

'13 3.5, max tow. did a 6 hour round trip last weekend to pick up a small utv for my dad, total trailer weight was around 2,300lbs. i've easily towed 5,000+ on multiple occasions over multiple years heading to the track without an issue.

about 45 mins. from home my check engine light comes on. didn't notice anything different (no shakes, stutters, power loss, etc) and continued the trip. dropped off the utv and drove 40 mins home. pulled out my code reader to get the P0299. this was saturday afternoon.

CE light was still on for every start since saturday up to and including when i started it and dropped it off at the dealer today. they ran their diagnostic and found no codes present, which follows the old adage exactly (broke until you take it in to fix). per the rep when they looked up the P0299 in the "ford book" it pointed to something wrong with the lines from the turbo to the wastegate. they checked all the lines, no issues or disconnects there. turbos are spooling and i have the normal boot (via the gauge i have for it). told me i can pick up and keep an eye on it.

i'm a little concerned as i have a 6 hour drive on friday and a 3 hour drive on saturday this weekend. this is the first vehicle i have ever owned with a turbo. I searched all the threads here i could find with the code and none of them, that i saw, mentioned the code just going away without doing anything. does anyone have any experience with this code? are there any telltale signs i should watch for that could indicate a serious problem? i am not one to leave tings be and hope they fix themselves, i'm more of a fix it as soon as it needs it so it is done and over kind of guy.
