Default Overheating

Has anyone towed a boat or anything about 6k pounds. I towed my boat today in 105 and temp on vehicle starting getting hot climbing 6% grade. Had to slow down to cool engine off. I have the ecoboost engine. Never had this problem with a v8

How hot is "getting hot"?

My duramax's engine temp would climb a little on a hot day while pulling hills. 220ish, Especially if the AC was running.

Make sure your radiator is clean and free of debris. Spray it out with water and air. Just be careful not to bend the fins.

Second, make sure the fans are working. Check fuses and see if they are operating.

Wink

There was a similar thread in the 2011 forums. Don't remember if it was an electrical fan issue, thermostat, or combination of items.

The engine should not be reaching those temps whether its a v6 or v8. Clean out the radiator, make sure fans are working, and that your water pump is properly pumping your coolant. Maybe check coolant levels themselves. The system is designed so even at 100% load for long periods of time, it should never overheat.
