Default Overheated amp and buzzing

I have a Kicker amp mounted behind the rear back seat. It's currently powering my sub and all four door speakers. It sounds great!! however, after a while I get a buzzing or humming noise through my door speakers. The shop who installed the system says it's due to the amp overheating (no air flow behind the seat), and is currently looking to mount a fan. Has anyone else had this issue!

This is my setup behind the rear seats...there are MANY others on here that have installed back there with much larger amps than mine without issue. Is your amp D class? how bout clearance from the back seat to the amp when the seat is folded up? My alpine get's warm, but has never come close to thermal tolerances, fingers crossed

Thanks KMaximus. Mines is set up similar, just only one amp and minus the Clean Sweep. I'm toying with just upgrading the amp (it's a 5 channel, I dunno the class) but it will suck if that's not the solution.

Gotcha, yeah my alpine is also a 5 channel amp.

I took a look at some various 5 channel kicker amps out there currently, spec/size wise they all looked good the space compared to the alpine. Maybe take some temp readings when it starts to buzz with one of those infrared thermometers....

Only other thing I can think of is an iffy ground, hopefly its something simple and not a bad amp, good luck!

Upgrade your amp. When your looking at an amp, beside the actual power output in rms, also look at the efficiency of the amp. I am running the jl xd series amps which are pretty efficient meaning less power is being lost due to heat. Some amps have built in cooling fans which might be a better choice, like an audison amplifier, but I have had no problems with my jl xd series amps

Kmaximus,

Love the amp mount you made. May I ask how you did it? Meaning what is it mounted to behind the factory insulation? Do you have an additional pics of the assembly of that area?

Thanks much.
