Opinion: Not a fan of the new grilles.
This is mostly me hoping that Ford will read this...
The new Lariat grille seems fitting, but those super-duty style grilles and mirrors may be the worst transposition of design language I've seen in a while.
I am a HUGE fan of these Ford trucks and I constantly tout their superiority to those truck shopping, but if I'm being honest, these 13's are going to be homely as hell.
I think the changes made to the 11's were great and a good showing of seeing what those on the forums were doing.
I want a new truck relatively soon, and it appears I will miss out on the 12' order banks. So it's either a 13' or 14' and put a 12' grille on it (in my case, we're talking FX4), wait for the cohesively designed 15' despite the fact that I'm scared about the amount of technology they're going to force down our throats with the next gen, or just keep my truck forever -a likely possibility.
Rant over.

Well nothing is known for sure about these '13 trucks, so these may not be the only grilles offered on them. If it is, that sucks IMO. I like the current 6-bar grilles a lot better also.

From what I've seen of the '13 Platinum grill from the pics that have been posted in other threads, I really like it....chrome bars, painted surround, similar to the SD Platinum grill.
It's difficult to tell what the new grill combos will be for all the models from the currently limited information available. I don't personally care for the C-clamp style on the SDs making it on any of the 150 models....they look ok the SD's, but no where else in my opinion....

I'm positive ford will keep the 6 bar grilles on the chrome package and FX trucks. From what I've read online, the superduty grilles are for the heavy duty payload package.
But don't let a grille stop you from buying a truck. It's not hard to swap it out with the grille of your choice. The centre and surround are 2 different pieces and are easy to change.

Hmm, the grille on the F-150 is way too small for the 2 bar picture frame F250 design. It looks fitting on the SD but not on the 150's. Good thing is that it can be easily swapped if you buy a 2013 and you could get the older grille. I think the 6 bar on the FX's is perfectly proportionate and fitting. Whatevs.
I'd like to see what the setup with MyFordTouch is like. If it's like the teleprompter tilt of the new SD with MFT they can keep their 2013 trucks and maybe I'll get a 2012 with navi. If they integrate it nice and flush like every other MFT Ford then maybe I'll consider upgrading.

It certainly won't stop me from buying one, the grilles are too easy to switch, but it still doesn't mean that whoever is in charge of updating the front ends on ford products needs to find a different company to screw with (Taurus, flex, now the f-150).
